SECURITY ALERT: Stay Cautious to Avoid Falling Victim to Fraudulent Activities

At SCBSF (Subhash Chandra Bose Scholarship Foundation), your safety and security are our top priorities. This page provides essential information to help you understand and prevent potential scholarship fraud, safeguarding your personal information and scholarship funds.

Understanding Scholarship Fraud

Scholarship fraud can take many forms, including phishing scams, identity theft, and impersonation attempts. Fraudsters may pose as SCBSF representatives or agents, requesting payments or sensitive information under false pretenses. Protect yourself by staying informed and vigilant.

How Fraudsters May Try to Scam You

  1. Impersonation of SCBSF Agents:
Fraudsters may claim to be SCBSF agents and ask for registration fees, application fees, or payments to “guarantee” scholarship approval.
Note: SCBSF does not charge any fees at any stage of the scholarship process, including application, selection, or disbursal.
  2. Request for Aadhaar or OTP Sharing:
Fraudsters may ask for your Aadhaar details, mobile number, or OTPs to “complete” scholarship applications or verify transactions. Never share this sensitive information.
  3. Refund Requests:
Fraudsters may contact you via email or phone, pretending to be SCBSF representatives, and request a refund of your scholarship funds. Always verify such requests through official SCBSF channels.

Tips to Prevent Scholarship Fraud

1. Verify Official SCBSF Communications

  • SCBSF communications will always be sent from official email addresses using our domain name, such as:
info@scbsf.com, support@scbsf.com, or other verified SCBSF email addresses.
  • Avoid responding to suspicious emails from non-official domains like Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail.
  • Confirm any scholarship-related communications through the official SCBSF website or helpline.

2. Protect Your Personal Information

  • Never share your login credentials, Aadhaar number, or sensitive information with unknown individuals or websites.
  • Avoid sharing OTPs or login details with anyone claiming to be an SCBSF representative.

3. Secure Your Documents

  • Store your scholarship-related documents, such as award letters and confirmation emails, in a safe and password-protected location.
  • When applying from public computers or cyber cafes, ensure all your files are removed before logging out.

4. Report Suspicious Activity

  • Be cautious of any requests for payment, upfront fees, or guarantees of scholarship approval.
  • Report suspicious activity immediately to SCBSF through our official fraud helpline: reportfraud@scbsf.com.
